Coronary heart disease is often called a "silent killer" because it can strike suddenly and threaten a person's life. The number of patients who die from coronary heart disease also keeps rising every year. Besides interventional cardiology methods, here are several types of treatment for curing coronary heart disease. Types of Treatment for Coronary Heart Disease
  1. Surgery
Surgery is performed when the narrowing of the arteries is caused by a buildup of atheroma. The surgical procedures are divided into three types: stent placement, heart bypass, and heart transplant. Although all of them are performed on the heart, these three types of surgery serve different functions. Heart transplant, for example, is performed when the heart is damaged so severely that it cannot be treated with medication alone. The only cure is to remove the damaged heart and replace it with a healthier heart from a donor. Unlike stent placement, this surgery involves inserting a catheter into the narrowed artery. The doctor then inflates a small balloon attached to the catheter to widen the blood vessel considerably. However, this method differs slightly from interventional cardiology.
  1. Changing Your Lifestyle
Changing long-standing habits into a healthier lifestyle is the main focus for recovering from coronary heart disease quickly. Stop smoking right away, limit the foods you eat, cut back or even quit alcohol, maintain an ideal body weight, and reduce excessive stress. While working to change old habits, you can focus on adopting a healthy lifestyle so it becomes second nature. You can start by eating nutrient-rich foods to meet your daily nutritional needs, and don't forget to exercise regularly. Treatment works best when you combine a healthy lifestyle with taking medication as prescribed by your doctor.
  1. Taking Medication
Patients with coronary heart disease must take medications such as blood thinners, beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors (angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors), statins, and many other types of drugs. All of these medications must be taken regularly to recover quickly. Of course, prescriptions are issued only after the doctor has diagnosed the condition and first carried out interventional cardiology. Interventional cardiology itself is used to locate the source of the arterial blockage, using a catheter equipped with an advanced micro camera. The prescription is then based on the diagnosis from the examination and the patient's complaints. Although it is described as a deadly disease that people around the world fear, this heart condition can actually be treated with several types of treatment. Lifestyle changes, medication, surgery, and interventional cardiology can be the best solutions to help you return to good health. There are many experienced interventional cardiologists in Indonesia, one of whom is dr Suko Adiarto. You can meet him at his practice at Heartology. dr. Suko Adiarto, Sp.JP (K) completed his medical education at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia, in 1997.
